Category (topic): Music and Performing
Start date: 1st December 2002
Statistics (threads, posts, members, hits): Threads: 9,622, Posts: 155,045, Members: 2,984
software version: vB303 of course...:)
Styles (default, 1 or more): We have 2 styles in use and a further one under development. The main one is a unique and fully customised style, we have a default vB style that is less graphically intensive, and I am developing a third 'easy' style for our visually impaired viewers.
Board won awards?: None as of yet...:(
Is registration required to view board?: Nope, no registration required. Everyone is welcome and can view tMP.
Tell us more: We are a fantastic online community of musicians, composers, players, publishers, teachers, students etc... We run an exceptionally friendly discussion forum, with family friendly being of the utmost importance to us. We hold regular monthly competitions that are lots of fun, we are growing, we arrange to meet up often and have players who have never met each other, let alone ever having played music together, regularly joining us at our organised events to play raising money for charities. I have an exceptional team of mods - none of whom I lnew before I started the forum but who now I have met many times and are all very good friends of mine.
Why is your forum the best?: Super moderator team, super membership, super hobby... and I have recently moved over to the excellent vB303 :) We are simply the best brass discussion forum on the web...;)
Thank you Floris for this opportunity, much appreciated.

Jessop-Smythe 2nd October 2004, 02:54 AM It's more than a great site! TheMusicMan and a few other members got me back into banding when I'd more or less quit.
Hope you get the vote TMM, you deserve to win
theMusicMan 2nd October 2004, 03:16 AM WOW - thanks Piers... that's lovely. Very nice of you to say so... much appreciated...:)
spookybiking 5th October 2004, 01:05 AM a great site to learn and find out new things with a wide age range of people that all enjoy good music. :)
super_sop 5th October 2004, 10:54 PM I am a member of a few forums, but there is only one forum to which i owe so much.
before joining tmp i had pretty much given up playing. but after going on one of "our" famous (or should that be infamous!) gatherings i was encouraged to start playing again.
I have now started playing seriously again with Wem jubilee band were im now proud to hold the seat of principal cornet. i have now played with bands of all calibres fom 4th section up to championship section. i have attended and played on every gathering of tmp wether for charity or for enjoyment, and on these outings made many new friends whom i speake to on a regular basis.
none of these things would have been possible with out the help of my new friends made through tmp.
i can honestly say that tmp has changed my life.
Can you say that of the forum you are a member of? I very much doubt it!!!
place a vote for tmp, and help TheMusicMan and everybody else in the tmp family help others.
go on, you know it makes sence!
OneBigJoke 6th October 2004, 08:32 PM A very nice and complete introduction for this featured forum thread. Nice job and I hope your members keep voting for you. You have a lot of votes already. Maybe I should help someone else and vote for them?
roby18tid 6th October 2004, 11:08 PM I am pretty new to all these threads, one thing is for sure I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for the Music Man! Visited themouthpiece.com a few months ago and was taught all I needed to know about the forum sites. Very, very helpful team on there, all my band/music questions were answered perfectly. The owner....a perfect gent. (thank you TMP.) If you were on e-Bay you woul get AAAAA+++++ ( the perfect score):)
lizzy18tid 6th October 2004, 11:42 PM Music Man, has helped both me and my hubby get back to our music. I dare say if he hadn't been so helpful we would have probably ended up as buskers in town. (not that there is any thing wrong with busking). But now we are starting to get the music back together. We all need a little focus and direction now and then, we got ours, if you like forums you really should check "themouthpiece.com" out.
With himself at the helm and a very dedicated team behind the web site it is a pleasure to use. So Thank You The Music Man, perhaps we could meet up one day and play some music together.
Vote The Mouth Piece....you know it makes sense. ;)
jan_h 7th October 2004, 01:39 AM Although brass bands are mainly a British thing, all over the world you will find people that love the typical brass band sound. Thanks to John The Music Man and his theMouthPiece.com forum, brass band lovers from all over the world (from Britain to Australia and from the European continent to the U.S.) and of all ages can get in contact and exchange their views.
Also, the "Random chat & off-topic" is full of crazy people with too few other things on their mind. They really seem to live on tMP :) A few months ago, John and his team came up with the idea for a "big brother forum". This was really completely wacko, and I don't think anything like it has ever been tried on another forum (10 people "locked inside a forum" that have to perform all kind of sily tasks while 1 of them was voted out on a regular basis...)
To summarize: theMouthPiece.com is a great site (especially if you love brass banding of course) and it's definitely worth your vote!!! (http://www.vBulletin-Fans.com/showthread.php?t=6561)
Moira 7th October 2004, 11:21 AM tMP.com is the best brass band site ever.
Family frindly forum it is ................any age we are keen musicians and all get on so well together.
Great team that run it as well headed by John Burns.:)
themaddude 7th October 2004, 11:38 PM Its a truely amazing forum
kate_the_horn 17th October 2004, 12:37 AM i agree, theres nothing thats hit me more than the mouthpiece over the last few months, without it i wouldn't be in the solo horn seat (thanks to the advice)
would have failed my scales completely, and never would have started to conduct, thank you for the fantastic advice on that front!
i also would never have met some of the best people i have ever known, gotten advice on universities, and pushed myself as hard as i can to get where i am 2day.
TMP has changed my life, and not just because of the big brother fun, i am forever into John and his team, giving us these prizes, and just for being there.
TMP should get the vote, and i think that it deserves every free web hosting it can get!
kell xxx:D
