There we go, Jelsoft just released the latest build of their version 2.x of vBulletin. This release can probably be considered the final release in the 2.x series, and development will probably now be focussed on getting their upcomming version 3.x ready for the big public (of which beta 5 has been released, just a few days ago).
This version includes a potential security hole fix and some other typing error fixing, source code patches and fixes of some bugs.
Here is a quote from KiervBulletin 2.3.1
vBulletin 2.3.1 is mainly a maintence release, although a minor XSS security issue was fixed. We recommend that all sites running vBulletin versions older than 2.3.1 upgrade as soon as possible. No versions of vBulletin 3 Beta are affected by this security problem.
Files and Templates Changed
For this release, almost every file and template has been changed, as we have altered all URL strings to use & instead of & for HTML standards compliance. These changes do not affect functionality, so you need not revert your templates except for those noted below in the 'Template Changes' section. These templates have had bugs fixed or new functionality added. The same is true for changed files. While almost all files have changed, only those listed below contain changes related to bugs or functionality. Other changed files relate only to the & to & changes.
It is adviced to make a backup of your current forum database and web files, prior to upgrade (as usual). And it is adviced to upgrade to this final version.
The announcement on vBulletin.com will list the major file and template changes. As well as a list of bug fixes.
If you are not ready to run version 3 on your live-site; then we advice to upgrade to this final version 2.3.1
Great work Jelsoft!
